ANNUAL DAY

Annual day is an important event celebrated in the month of February every year. It is a time where the outgoing class 12 students receive awards. The entire year’s activities are summed up in the annual report. The 100% attendance awards are given to deserving students and staff. A variety entertainment programme is put together by the students.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

To bring in the spirit of hope and cheer we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in a grand manner. Skits, dances and songs make the day a colourful event and of course we have the Santa coming in all pomp and glory. It is a treat for everyone.

FOUNDER’S DAY

Founder’s day is celebrated on July 23rd in remembrance of our dear founder Dr. Rajakumar. It is a day of festivities. Children came in colourful dresses. There is fun and laughter. We remember the founder and his magnanimous nature and service. We also organise a carnival, the proceeds of which is given to charitable organisation.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

Independence day is celebrated on 15th August with the hoisting of the flag, by our Principal Mrs. Anitha Edison. The NCC Parade, Patriotic songs and a meaningful speech from the Principal make the day a holistic one.

INTRAMURAL

Inter house sports competition are a much awaited event in our academic calendar. The staff and students of each house put in their effort to make their house win.

KIDDIES SPORTS

Every year on 26th January (Republic Day) Kiddies Sports is organised for primary class students to inculcate sportsmanship, team spirit and competitive spirit. Little Johnians and their parents enthusiastically participate in this mega event.

NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth development movement. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities.

STUDENT’S COUNCIL

Student council members are elected in a grand function organized by the school. These groups of students address the issues of concern and organize activities. The students are given an opportunity to develop leadership qualities and promote harmonious relations throughout the school.

TEACHER’S DAY

Teachers’ day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers and is celebrated on Sep 5. It is celebrated as a month of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society Sep 5 is the birth anniversary of the great teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

TINY TOTS

This club provides opportunities for young children to show case their talent and nurture their creative skills. Many students participate in the competitions and feel proud when they get prizes.

ACTIVITY CLASSES FOR EFFECTIVE LEARNING

The activities provided in the room are designed, planned and organized in such a way as to give opportunities for the young children to explore and experience the world around them. It concentrates not only on eye hand co-ordination but also on finer muscular development. The room provides an environment that fosters thinking and self confidence. Above all it creates in the young minds a love for learning.

This is the stage when students become versatile and highly exuberant and keeping their high level of motivation, creativity and thirst for action in mind, curriculum is planned to give more scope for activity based learning.

The scheme for classes VI-VIII has been designed on Term Assessment basis with gradual increase in the learning assessment as the students move forward. This would prepare the students to cover the whole syllabus of the academic year and face the challenge of class X Board examination, and would thus, ensure the ‘quality of education’.

 

  • At this stage, curriculum becomes more concept oriented.In order to concretize the concepts in Science and Mathematics, Practical classes are conducted for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics periodically.
  • Abstract concepts of Science and Mathematics and Grammatical rules of English are made simpler and explained through educational CD’s at the Computer Centre of the school.
  • Exclusive sessions for softskills like English Communicative skills, General Awareness, Personality Development, Life Skills, Value Enhancement, Health and Hygiene are provided through periodical lectures by eminent personalities and workshops and seminars.
  • Counselling sessions are organized for students to combat problems related to learning and emotions.
  • Field Trips, Nature Walk, Visits to places of topical interest as per the text book, are organized periodically.
  • A variety of activities comprising of Sports and Culturals are organised to tap the talents of students.
  • Thematic Project Exhibitions on Science, Humanities, Hobbies, Work Experience are conducted through which the students gain not only a deep understanding of their subjects, but also gain experience in team work and organisational skills.

Environmental Education (Class I – V)

One of the other special features of education at the primary level is the environmental education. Here simple but sensitive topics are dealt through Projects, Assignments, Hands on experience, Talks, Group Discussions and various other activities. This enables the children to have special relationships with their environment.
